a bald condor squats beside
on a desert road

bowls down mount hope street

Mr. Cote just died
last june on a rainy night
today, it still snowed

a dead mottled mouse
decorated the white snow
then drifted away

5.

his black canvas boots
had only one tiny hole
as the ice melted
