The First Grand Simian Winner

Everyone join me in congratulating Ann Murphy of Chelmsford MA on winning the grand prize. Yes, that's right, not only did she win $100 for in the second simian award, but she won the grand prize ... another $100 and a feature in an upcoming issue of the Revue.

Her sonnet "Lincoln" is a seemingly true-ish story of what Abraham Lincoln might have read.

To hear Ann tell it, she went to a workshop with Tom Daley, and excellent poet in his own right, and this sonnet was the result.

Ann teaches writing at the University of Massachusetts, and seems to gravitate toward regular meter and rhyme, and is a master of form. She's an exceptional poet and a wry, witty fantastic woman.

It is a great pleasure to award her the grand prize, and I am looking forward with great anticipation to her upcoming feature.
