The Redhead

Red-haired pin-ups were extremely popular...
For some reason, the redhead was a favourite of pin-up artists. Perhaps it was the fiery sensuality they supposedly possessed,-from advertisements to magazine covers, redhaired pin-ups were more plentiful than blondes or brunettes. The following are pieces by various artists from periods ranging from the 30's to the 50's, the majority of the work being from the mid-forties on. Take notice of one of the strangest sub-genres in pin-up art, in my opinion, the underwear around the ankles bit. As if that would or could happen to anyone not wearing gigantic, oversized fruit of the looms. Some of these are pretty funny. BOLLES: Toast of the Town Redheads in Vintage Ads
