Shan's Crap (Shannon McEwen) «
No need to burp him
In that enchanted hour
Somewhere in-between now
And then
No wheels swoosh by
On the gray hazed street
Silent beneath the shaded pane
Birds yawn dewy
Sleep from their eyes
Beaks still closed for comment
The sun only just a promise
In the soft tussle
Of nothingness
Soft suckling sounds
From the sweet child at breast
Before a ragged sigh
And in peaceful silhouette
My love beside me
Farts

They fart to let us know they're still alive when we're lying awake looking after the baby...
Many congratulations to you and Scott, sounds like your family just keeps getting more and more perfect.

It's not often you see bathos used to good effect. Whether this constitutes bathos or not, that final jolt coming after the sublime is simultaneously humorous and deeply human. It reads like a tone-poem and you certainly capture the essence of that quiet harmonious time with subtle use of alliteration and assonance. A profound comedy in miniature ... BRgds., Alan.

I think its funny that the 'fart' poetry gets the most responses!
Yes, both baby and mom are doing well, except the baby still hasn't figured out that night time is for sleeping!
