My mayor poem.. For Laurie

The wizard of oz took the stage

engaging the crowd with a single wave.

His opening words spilled with such ease

“a women I just met, came in on the breeze 

she traveled a great distance just to see 

our beautiful little poetic city. “

She captured his attention now this was clear,

for his words of her beauty were quite sincere.

She was the hit of the show and everyone there

could see her true nature and special flair 

Not just  her lovely golden hair 

which, by the way, was perfect I swear.

Well, when the Mayor finally ended

his speech, which was truly splendid

everyone wanted to know 

if this lovely woman would show

her support the following year!
