The Mayor and The Blonde

The Mayor of Lowell awaited me

atop the darkened stair,

his friendly gaze and smiling face

took in my long blonde hair.

He grasped my hand in both of his

and held it to his chest.

“My darling dear I welcome you

and offer you the best.

The key to Lowell is yours to take,

please do enjoy our Fest!”

“I visit from afar,” I  said

“I’m here to see your city.”

I blinded him with pearly white

and smiled…oh so pretty!

The evening did continue

all participants aglow.

As they called upon the Mayor

to introduce the show;

He enthusiastically mentioned

His new found friend from Chicago

i saw mayor Bud o'ogglin' the blonde with pretty eyes
he looked too long, he was so wrong - I told him to be wise

Chicago chicks, have mobster tricks and guns in awful plenty
They'll lie and chide, and as you hide, they'll spend the well placed twenty

Oh Mayor Bud, you're a fine old fellow, a baritone soft and oh so mellow -still
The monkey queen of your best dream, will toss you on the grill

As you fry, and slowly die, she'll smile sweet and true
Dear Mayor Bud, (over the bridge with a thud) That'll be the end of you.

I see a chapbook in the works... Love your perspective of the scene, "Ms. Lowell 2008!"

Suggest you'll come back each year, and he'll make sure the event is held in Lowell from now on.
