Great to hear from so many people

Obviously there isn't a mad rush of everyone returning, but there has been a steady stream and a a lot of nice notes welcoming the return of Shakespeare's Monkeys.

I missed everyone more than I can explain.

The number one question seems to be, "I forgot my login, can you help me?" The short answer is, yes, try using the email you receive the notices on. That will work instead of your login name, and you can reset your password with that email address.

Hope all is well with everyone and looking forward to reconnecting with even more of you in the coming weeks.

Groups

We now have the ability to create private groups for members. For example, a group who wants to focus on Haiku. A Group of playwrights.

These groups are a private area for the group to discuss minutia out of the eye of the general population of the site. If you have an idea for a group you want to run, with at least 5 people, we'd be happy to host your group here.

Added a personal space request form

New feature

Members can now request a personal space without sending a nasty email. Fill out the form found on the Member Pages-- and your new space will be set up very quickly

Advertising

Hey folks. Google Advertising is back.

While it does help the site if you guys visit, it does not help the site if you try to flood them. I ask you all to just be reasonable. If you see an add that interests you, please click it, but don't try to 'earn the site money' but constantly clicking indiscrminently. That risks my standing with google, and the can and will take away my account, and thus my ability to earn a little money to ffset the expense of the site.

Right now, it's just a public service announcement. That'll go away in a day or two, as google analyzes the site to determine the best advertising to put on this site. Theoretically we should get a lot of book and poetry type ads, but you never know.

Anyways. Just wanted to let you all know what that's about over there. It's not some personal drive to raise money for hurricane victims. (Mostly, I'm not that compassionate, if they didn't want to take the risk of a hurricane they'd ahve moved from that area -- yes, harsh, i know.)

by the way... did anyone notice

There are some new map features on the user pages.

It's moderately nifty. You'll like it. On the user page click 'map users'

If you want to add yourself in, go to your user profile, click 'edit' then at the bottom of the page, find 'locations' you can add as many as you want actually. Add in home, work, and vacation spots ..label them, be cute it's ok. I don't think everyone wants to put their street address, but city, state and country would be cool!

Comment Bug

Bugs

For those of you having trouble with making a comment, I believe the problem is patched for now, and the programmer will have a permenant solution with the next release.

i made a change to the code that should allow IE 6 folks to post comments to the site normally. Let me know if that is the case.

Day 1

Ok... first thing's first.

This doesn't work. I know. BUT it has more what you guys seemed to want. SO, i started here.

the other site is still accessible on the old server. SO ... feel free to help me by moving stuff over for yourself. If you can't figure it out, let me know adn i'll do it for you. MOst folks were asking to be deleted anyways. SO i don't anticipate much in the way of asking.

Also, let me know if you want me to move your old DMV library over, i can do that too, probably.

Day 2: Messages suck

yeah, this isn't easy.

Well, apparently this is going to be more difficult than i hoped. BUT, eventually we'll get there. Now, as far as the rest of the site goes, i dont' really need positive feedback. YOu're all very sweet, but I know it sucks. I am hopeful it'll be better soon, but right now, i'ts awful. I'm not inviting folks to join or anything until it's much further alone. PREFERABLY once the messaging works and the navigation on the right side is more filled out.
