For Less

02:45 am

For less

I have reached

Headstrong fingers extended

Shimmied a trunk and

Belly-crawled the bough

By ginger slide-steps

Have trembled slim branches

Laughed at the breeze

That lifted my skirt, exposed

For less

Far less

Has tempted

A precarious perch

Emboldened by bravada and

Taste for apple

But now

Earthbound on skinned scared knees

Gazing up through serpent memories

It is too far to fall

You make me laugh

And you make me too hungry

6 degrees of separation

04:01 pm

the small world effect

in a big city landscape

difficult for a gypsy to gauge

the perennial new kid

for once

stays

weeks…months…years

unaccustomed

to being recognized

traceable

transient’s anonymity

hostage

to a sticky web of

accountability

a dangerous matrix

could

make an honest woman

on ice

02:39 am

an iced pond

where

perhaps

i do not yet belong

i cannot tread light

and

have forgotten how to swim

where

snowflakes

flaunt a silvery beacon

i beckon softly

as

currents sluice beneath

and

time ticks

where blood

beats red and salty

i beckon to

you

but

am frozen

here

Pas de Trois

02:34 am

Touchpoints in a waltz of time

Trajectories collide

Then turn upon proverbial dime

And three-step out of sight

Turning points from three to two

Present when not expected

Pirouette in sync on cue

But then be disconnected

Pathways criss and cross in trine

Trisect us and divide

They tempt you at that fatal line

Two seize me two your side

I trip the light in triple time

Then sashay off the stage

Watch silent as your stars align

Your plans are dreamt and gauged

Swing free my wants to whirl and spin

My skirts twirl as you turn away

If time swings round we’ll dance back in

To waltz a deux another day

A Window and Other People

08:43 pm

i lie
in such a pose
that I see
conveniently
in a town that is not my own
through
A Window

smokey trees
in 7 shades of proximity
a freeway at horizon
cars
go east
cars
go west

circled
in such a pose on
a motel green couch
by the germs
of
Other People

such
is a muse
the disgust
intimate intrigue
of lying down
with dust smoke and
skin cells

Prurient Pigeon Poem (explicit)

07:09 pm

Thou art duly forewarned. This is a salacious and silly sonnet. No apologies.
Where doth the pigeon nestle hot and snug
Behind thine zipper pressing for release
Awaiting digits tentative warm tug
And fingertips soft brush and stroking tease
What sayeth thee to pleasure's beck and call
To rise salt tide toward moon's magnetic pull
What sayeth thee to eros throb and fall
That maketh sweet thine member turgid full
And what of lips that whispergraze a thigh
Or lick and nibble hungrily at play
That take thee in and kiss thee desert dry
'Til spent behold we close of raptured day
Pray tell what more could eager mouth desire
Than verily to quench thine fevered fire

Explicit

12:09 pm

(not)
Simile and metaphor
Suggestive glimpse of sex
Veiled by adjective du jour
And hinted of in text

Yet sometimes phrases raw and coarse
Are needed for accession
Of fundamental bottomline
Volcanic base expression

Hard core thoughts and wanderings
Are kept with no apologies
Salacious words to spill and spread
On pages more contained than these

Unchaste deeds and blue ideas
In blatant print concealed
By boxes on a closet shelf
Selectively revealed

Ommmmmm

02:42 pm

the bouncing chihuahuas
of exterior life
penetrate my skull
yap yip and chew
at the ragged borders
of my bruised brain

the vise
of sharpened awareness
crunches slices tight
around my ankles
clamps me
to the floorboards
as neglected monsters
cold grey and hairless
squeal creep and slither
from under the persian rug

and every one
wants needs has to have
a piece of me

until I scream
for headroom
shriek
for silence
and
reclaim my space

Deepest Ecology

07:06 pm

Ode to Gaia
Where all is leveled
And one breathing system
Holds the sinews the veins the spirit fibers
That link
a weevil ~ a rock ~ water ~ you

Where all is She
And a mere veil of smoke
Separates the memories the ideas the possibilities
That weave
An electron ~ a hibiscus ~ Mozart

Where all is old
And primordial stew
Blends always recombinations and magic mutations
That harmonize
Air ~ imagination ~ earthworms ~ sea

Four Eyes

10:26 pm

Skittering black they cast for clues
Dart with reserve
And silent study

Careful they test the tides
Then twinkle
Deadpan mischief

His eyes of shy puzzlement
Conceal a trove
Of quiet savvy

***

Ice tender blue
Glass-framed glare
Unravels to quixotic gaze

All but disappear in smilesquints
Then vanish full
In weary retraction

His eyes of reproach
Mask so sheerly
A poet’s soul

Four eyes
Two eyes
Too many

Look away

10:09 pm

She looks away askance afar
He craves her promise rare
elusive and silk-wrapped in worth

Yet gaze direct heartfelt and true
He dreams paradise
Thrums on foreign shore

Preserve potential
And amber-encased sparks
Reside safely
In pretty imprisoned impossibility

Bloom

02:21 pm

: “Nothing is less real than realism. Details are confusing. It is only by selection, by elimination, by emphasis that we get at the real meaning of things.” -- Georgia O’Keeffe

Inspiration: Red Canna (1923), Oriental Poppies (1928), Light Iris (1924) & Georgia O.
Symmetrical mystery
Radial burst of poppy
Lateral spread of iris

Velvet-furred and succulent
Ripple-edged petal
Vermillion invitation

Tinctures bleed damp fragrance
Opiate crushed tints
Blend cinnabar blend lilac

Summon to scarlet embrace
Fuschia and plum strokes beckon
Eyes lured to darkest recess

Bloom forth in palette’s rapture
Lurid delicacy
Of an unfurling flower

High Altar

04:33 pm

written for a friend..but commentary still welcome
High Altar

I live to swim
with the minnows
in shallows of shadow
In shaded
sweet crooks
of the river’s side
To dance
from her banks
over forest floor’s fragrance
And on
to the deep wood
by zephyrs I’ll ride
To spin
in the coolness
of dusky sharp wetness
Look up
to the dapple
of light twirling high
Slow spiral
in circles
of lucid abandon
And nakedly
marvel as
leaves merge with sky
Then stopping
abruptly
I see you before me
We smile
as the woods ring
with laughter’s light peal
I’ll lift you
up lightly
to nature’s high altar
By this
my dear friend
I know truly its real

Shadow Boxing

01:00 pm

The bell rings...
The bell rings

Skulk from the corner
Uppercut a blow
In defense
against
A ghost imagined

A straw opponent
Threatens with kindness

The bell rings

Found

03:32 pm

Steady
I found me in your arms again/ Enchanted by a kiss/ Four times lost and four times found/ But not before like this

I found you by my side once more/ And steady was my hand/ No nervous angst nor niggling doubt/ No fear for where I’d land

Again I heard your words of love/ And once more you heard mine/ Spoken words we’d said before/ But differently this time

And like before I held you close/ And softly stroked your hair/ And knew that you’d be gone once more/ Yet felt how much you care

I cannot fully understand/ Nor know if you’ll return/ But this time something’s different/ There is something here to learn

A peaceful solace quiets me/ With what I know is true/ My love for you will stay with me/ Yet also stay with you

I found you in my arms again/ I found me in your touch/ My heart is true, my friendship real/ My promise means that much

In Spite of Because Of

03:46 pm

For a friend
In spite of because ofYour strength or your weaknessBecause of in spite ofYour pluck and your meekness... Inclusive of all Of your quirks and perfection Your tenderness, demons The whole in collection... Because of your flaws Or in spite of your assetsIn spite of your vices And each of your facets... Embracing your grace And your rough imperfection... To cherish your all Without need for correction

So feigned

08:41 pm

O Dree
She strailed upon the mawkish mael
A flickling shrafe she saw
Of walsom bane and fanded bale
So feigned of nasling maw

"O dree" cried she with purvid grue
As nigh the rask drew near
To wence thyself of mossid dew
That carad dost thou fear

Yet to thine eye gael rask shall grow
'Til oe'r the emerald fee
A glisted light of mourn and lo
A wraikish jest of me

plum red

01:54 pm

two renditions of one poem...i wonder how they compare.
Plum Red #1

Red with moist-earth pungency
Breathe it in, vapors warm & swell
Taste, swallow, breathe again

Curls of smoke, grey twirl umber
Patchouli, breathe it in
Acrid hot incense, breathe it in

Candle-snap, match-scent sharp
Breathe it in, sienna light crackles
Ember-heat flame mounting

Breathe it in, fingertips graze
Lips touch lips, apricot-redolent
Exhale softly, breathe it in

Burgundy plum-mouth on skin, salt-wet tang
Cinnabar-shiver, savor, breathe it in
Breathe deep purple

Breathe

Again

Plum Red #2

Red with earth-moist pungency
Breathe it in ~ vapors warm & swell
Taste swallow ~ breathe again

Lower the cup and meet my eyes

Match-snap warm candlewax
Breath it in ~ fingertips graze
Sienna ember ~ mounting flame

smile
shy
sly

Smokey tendrils' ochre twirl
Patchouli umber ~ breathe it in
Sweet hot incense ~pull me in

Breathe deep and chest touch breast
Lips brush soft ~ apricot redolent
Exhale slowly ~ breathe me in

Plum-mouth on skin savor salt-wet tang Cinnabar-shiver ~ breathe it in
Breathe deep purple

Breathe...

Again
